Image unavailable in the archive · 02Different events are held by Azerbaijan Ornithological Society every year. “Bird of the year” is important in the row of these events. Electing different birds of “Bird of the year” every year create opportunity for people to get more interesting information about these birds.

Related this society prepare posters, pens, stickers, leaflets and give information about these birds in our newspaper “Qushchu”. Different events are organized for informing our population and members, our publications are distributed them.

Bird of the year 2008 is White Stork. There were organized some seminars for schoolchildren in Baku and other regions of Azerbaijan. The employees of Azerbaijan Ornithological Society got ready for these events with enthusiasm. There were published posters, stickers and pens devoted to White Stork. And AOS staff prepared interesting presentations on different themes.

Image unavailable in the archive · 03The first training dedicated to White Stork for schoolchildren and school teachers was hold at the school No. 309 at Bakikhanov settlement of Baku on 24th October. The main goal was to distribute information about White Stork among schoolchildren. The seminar consisted of two parts:
- Training at the school
- Ecological games

During seminar our employers gave information about Azerbaijan Ornithological Society and its activities; about field works, how to identify birds and about our excursions; the information on Storks especially on White Stork.

After the presentations ecological games were conducted by AOS staff. The aim of ecological games are to entertain and causing schoolchildren to think; to get the new knowledge about ecology, birds and animals. The winners and all participants were handed by different prizes.

Image unavailable in the archive · 04About 100 schoolchildren and 5 school teachers participated during training course. Some of the schoolchildren became members of AOS.

The posters and leaflets of AOS, posters, stickers and pens devoted to White Stork were handed to each participant.

The same events organized at the school “XXI century” on 28th October, the Ecological Center in Shirvan region on 31st October, the litsey “Erudit” at Baku on 4th November, school No 1 at Goychay region on 25th November, Savalan secondary school at Gabala region on 26th November and at Kuzun secondary school at Gusar region on 29th November.

These events created the opportunities for participants to get interesting information rouse interest for nature and birds.
